Role (department)
Administrative Assistant (CLP) (Christian Life Program) Information
Assist Christian Life Program with administrative duties such as filing, word processing, data entry, and general office duties, a minimum of 5 hours a week for one year. Must have organizational skills, be detailed oriented, capable of working independently, have experience with electronic communications and other computer programs (Excel, Access, etc), be flexible and able to multi-task, have good record keeping and basic clerical knowledge, and other duties as needed.

Morning or afternoon 8:00 to 4:00 to be coordinated with Men’s Ministries Administrative Assistant’s schedule.
Assistant to the Manager (Family Shelter) Information
Assist manager with operations of the shelter in ministry of the guests, by meeting their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs within the evening duties; once a week for a year. Must be a Christian, be flexible, be willing to follow manager’s lead, an ability to say “No”, good boundaries, must be on time, and able to lift 50 lbs.
Camp Intern (Intern) Information
3 weeks of training and camp prep, 6 weeks of camp and one week after camp.

Clothing Room Assistant (Men's Center) (Christian Life Program) Information
Organize donated clothes and distribute them to Christian Life Program clients or to over night shelter guests, while engaging the men in Godly conversation.

Development Intern (Intern) Information
City Union Mission’s Development Internship is a structured nine to twelve weeks during the Spring Jan -May, Summer May – August; or Fall August – December semester with a minimum of 26 hours per week; Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:00PM. The goal of this internship is to help students further cultivate their skills through experience at a national non-profit. The development intern must have a positive attitude and eagerness to learn about fundraising and donor relations strategies. Knowledge of the non-profit sector and fundraising, either through coursework or professional experience is a must; volunteer experience preferred.

You will experience working with City Union Mission’s nine member development team. City Union Mission is a non-profit ministry operating on a $10.5 million budget reaching out to those who are poor or homeless in Kansas City, MO. You will also learn the value of long range planning and the day to day ministry.

This life changing experience will lead to: personal growth in understanding urban poverty, a deep sense of Christian community, and expanded skills. Each intern is challenged to step out of the personal comfort zone and into a world of serving Christ in both exciting and sacrificial ways.

Driver (Medical Services) Information
Driver- We are looking for male volunteer drivers to transport anywhere from 2-8 men at a time to local KC entities for them to obtain their IDs, Truman Discount Cards, dental appointments, and places where the Mission's case managers may need them to go. These drivers will be using the Mission's vehicles to transport these individuals that are in need of services.

There are programs these men have opportunity for with their medical care that are being held up because of the lack of enough drivers for transportation. If we had drivers available for certain days, the men could utilize more services and this would be of great assistance for our staff and those we care for here at the Mission.
Facilities Intern (Intern) Information

City Union Mission’s Facilities Internship is a nine to twelve weeks during the Spring (Jan –May), Summer (May – August); or Fall (August – December) semester with a minimum of 26 hours per week; Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:00PM. The Maintenance intern must have a positive attitude and eagerness to learn about caring for Facilities and managing projects. Knowledge of the non-profit sector helpful; volunteer experience preferred.

You will experience working with City Union Mission’s maintenance team. City Union Mission is a non-profit ministry operating on a $10.5 million budget reaching out to those who are poor or homeless in Kansas City, MO. You will also learn the value of long range planning and about the day to day ministry.

Front Desk Reception and Security (Community Assistance) Information
Greet guests to the CAC building, and assist guests signing in for community assistance, as well as monitoring building for safety.
Handyman (faclities) (Operations) Information
Assist with general maintenance and small construction projects throughout the Mission.

Between 9 am to 3 pm Individually based. Evenings and weekends can also be an option.
Interviewer (Community Assistance) (Community Assistance) Information
Interview clients and share the gospel. Monday-Wednesday-Thursday 1-4pm. One day a week: two to three hours.
Learning Center Academic Assistant (Christian Life Program) Information
Assist the LC supervisor to administer the academic program, empowering students with the academic/career skills necessary for them to contribute to society and to the Christian community; once a week at least 2 hours, for 6 months. Must be a Christian, have computer knowledge, be a high school graduate with some college, have good communication skills, and the ability to manage details and do basic clerical tasks.
M – F 1pm – 4pm
Nursery Caregiver (New Life Program) Information
To ensure the well being of children from six months old to kindergarten age whose parents or guardians are on New Life Program. Weekly from 1 PM – 4 PM.
Other (Administration) Information
Choose this option when you have been requested by staff to do a application and it does not fit one of the other opportunities. Or if you are not sure where you would like to serve.
Rescue Ministry Intern (Intern) Information
Live and serve at City Union Mission. Experience a diverse rescue ministry from a range of perspectives.
Saturday Learning Center Academic Assistant (New Life Program) Information
Assist the LC supervisor to administer the academic program, empowering students with the academic/career skills necessary for them to contribute to society and to the Christian community; once a week on Saturday 9:00 to Noon, for 6 months. Must be a Christian, have computer knowledge, be a high school graduate with some college, have good communication skills, and the ability to manage details and do basic clerical tasks.
Store Attendant (Community Assistance) Information
Assist with stocking the Community assistance store and the distribution of goods. Monday1:00 to 3:00 Wednesday 1:00 to 3:00 Thursday 1:00 to 3:00
Youth Coordinator Assistant (Vanderberg Youth Center (Youth Program)) Information
Relate to students, assist with homework, discuss Bible topics, participate with program activities (e.g. life skills, job skills, recreation)
